The New York State Department of Environmental conservation (DEC) and New York Sea Grant have launched the "New York's Great Lakes" website that will serve as an information clearinghouse and portal through which users can access specific resources related to grant funding, research projects, and the priorities of New York's Great Lakes Action Agenda.
Cleaning Up Lake Neatahwanta
A problem that developed over the decades. A solution spearheaded by volunteers, the Town of Granby, and the City of Fulton. First control the source of the pollutants. Then clean the lake bottom and open up some under water spring 66 inches at a time. Pictures at left show a dredger with a 66 inch wide intake taking sentiment from the bottom of the lake pumping it into a bladder receptacle that keeps the sentiment in but allows for the return of the water to the lake.
